Christmas at Disney World

Let’s discuss my Disney World experience with a large group. My husband and I went with four kids under five, my mother, two sisters, and my eldest sister’s boyfriend. I’ll be sharing some tips on packing and things that I feel helped us with the overall experience.

The tradition of going to Disney World during the Christmas season, began when my sister Kelly and I first went together about 10 years ago! We love how magical Disney World is during the holidays. Now that I have children there’s nothing more beautiful than watching their faces when they see their favorite characters in real life.

This year was a year I will never forget because my five-month-old FINALLY said MAMA in the middle of the park, and you know that I broke down into tears right then and there! Her first words were “yeah yeah” and “dada”. My eldest daughter’s first words were, “hi” and, “mama,” so I just assumed I wouldn’t be lucky and have my second baby’s first word also be “mama.”

I’ve compiled a list of items I believe was super useful for all four of the children with us. Their ages range from four to five months old.

  • A baby carrier, because who wants to hold a baby in their arms during a 30-minute line?? Not me!

  • A nursing cover. I literally nursed while walking around because ain’t nobody got time to sit down when you’re running to make your fast past time.

  • At least one change of clothing including undies for all kids. Remember you’ll be in lines and accidents do happen!

  • Extra sweaters because again, accidents happen and it gets cold once the sun goes down.

  • Blankets for nighttime because the kids get sleepy from all the excitement during the day.

  • Headphones Or noise-canceling headphones. My baby and two-year-old don’t mind the noise, but my stepdaughters prefer the quiet. Headphones are perfect for when you’re watching the nighttime fireworks

  • Snacks and more snacks! You can bring in as much food and drinks as you want. I had a giant cooler full of water, juice, fruit, cookies, crackers, etc.

  • Toys! I had each toddler pick out a princess doll to bring with them to the park. This was useful for car rides and when they were waiting in line. I didn’t have them bring in any small toys that could easily be lost.

  • A toddler harness if you have a runner. I saw some parents who had numerous kids use these bracelets that attached to each child's wrist and up to the parent’s wrist. They basically just looked like giant slinkies.

  • A collapsable toddler toilet seat cover. I kept ours in a plastic bag and wiped it down with Clorox. The toilets are so huge and the girls had such a hard time using them! Plus they’re not the cleanest toilets ever and it’s not like you can tell your two-year-old to pop a squat.

  • Wipes! From touching all the walls, rides, eating, and thumb sucking you want to make sure those little hands are kept as clean as possible.

  • You can rent strollers at the park, so if you are scared about bringing in your nice stroller just remember they’re available after you’ve entered the park.
